Activity 3

What will the future be like in 80-90 years?
I think the future the house will float. Instead of walking you get a board that float. People will eat a little pill that makes you full when you are hunger. You can teleport to where ever you want. People will work in shops and schools and other things they want to do. People won't use words instead they will use their minds to talk to people.

I really enjoyed doing the summer learning journey every day it was interesting  and fun also echolocation too. I hope to maybe get to do it next year. Thank you for the people who made summer learning journey and thank you again.

Haschak Sisters Pretty Girl

So listen up ladies all across the map (the map)
I think it's time we have a chit chat (chit chat)
I see ya walking the mall
Fixing up and getting ready just to walk down the hall
Then what's a girl to do?
I just want to feel like i'm accepted and i'm beautiful
Ain't nothing wrong with that
But ya better get the facts so you don't end up as "that girl"
Ain't nothing wrong with getting your hair did
You love an outfit then wear it
Got your nails on and some high heals too
(Hey)
Everybody looking at you
Feeling so fly passing by at school
But that's not why you're beautiful
Okay!
Lipstick love to get fixed up (fixed up)
But you ain't gotta do too much (oh)
I think that you should know
You don't need makeup to makeup a pretty girl
Worth more then a work of art (and you can't )
Conceal what's in your heart (so highlight)
The person that you are
You don't need makeup to makeup a pretty girl
Sometimes i fix up, sometimes i down play
Depends on how i feel that (hey)
Cause i don't need a boy to say
That he ...thinks i'm pretty just to feel okay
And every now and then i'll go and put on makeup
And suddenly the boys they wake up
Follow me around saying. "girl you fine "
Boy have you done lost your mind?
Ain't nothing wrong with getting your hair did
You love an outfit then wear it
Got your nails on and your high heals too

Week 3 Day 2 Summer Learning Journey!!

Day 2

Activity 1

Family Frue
Dai Henwood hosts New Zealand’s most loved game show; Family Feud!
Each night two families compete to win cash and prizes. If a team wins for five nights they get a new car! All they have to do is guess the most popular responses to a survey of 100 New Zealanders. It’s so much fun, you can’t help but play along at home. Let’s get our Feud on!
Activity 2
Fact 1: The Beatles' first stop in New Zealand was Wellington. Seven thousand screaming fans – nearly all young women – waited as the band touched down on 21 June 1964. One girl badly hurt her leg trying to climb a wire fence, and two others were forced through the fence because of pushing from behind.
Fact 2: 'Girls were screaming uncontrollably, quite out of their tree,' people remembered. Police used dogs to clear crowds from verandahs and other vantage points. Teenagers pushed over and damaged two police motorbikes; there was so much pushing that one of The Beatles’ cars was shunted backwards, even with the handbrake on.

Fact 3: Fans trekked back to The Beatles' hotel after the concert. The band was stuck inside as crowds gathered outside. Some kept up a late-night vigil on the hill behind the hotel. Others tried to get round the strict security; four girls strolled onto the sixth floor into the arms of Ringo Starr. His response was, ‘Now girls, no nonsense or else I’ll leave.’

Week 2 Day 4 of the Summer Learning Journey!!

Day 4: Another World War (1939-1945)

Activity 1

7 April: Italy invades Albania

After the war was all about trying to make Albania apart of the Italian Empire. So the event happened in Albania 1938. The people who were in the war were Italy and Albania. But Italy had 22,000 soliders but Albania had 8,000. That isn't really fair.

10 September: Canada declares war on Germany

After Germany invaded Poland the United Kingdom and France declared war on September 3. To assert Canada's independence from the UK. Canada accepted that they could go to war. I don't where it started but I am guessing Germany.

Activity 2

Captain Charles Hazlitt Upham

Charles Upham is probably New Zealand’s most famous soldier. His actions during the Second World War led to him becoming one of only three people – and the only combat soldier – to have won the Victoria Cross twice.

Bonus Activity: For this activity, you are going to imagine that you are just like Dorothy and that you are working as a nurse on a large medical ship.

One day you are walking along the deck of the ship when you hear a loud bang. You start to run as you see smoke coming from the far end of the ship. You run towards the room where your patients are waiting to receive treatment from the doctor. Just as you arrive at the door to their room you hear another loud bang and you... go to see what that was. You realise that you were being under attack by the Nazis. You take your patincts and hide down below. There are more gunshots everywhere. At that moment you realise that the boat is out of control. They captain must've been shot. You go up to where the captain has been shot which he has and you decide to drive the ship. You do do it and get away from the boat before anyway else has been hurt. The captain was later taken to hostpital and survived. Everyone is now calling you there hero :)
